Job Summary:

This role involves providing locksmith services to install, repair, modify, and open various locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a senior technician or trade shop supervisor and will be responsible for examining locking mechanisms, installing new units, disassembling units, replacing worn parts, or repairing them.

Responsibilities:

• Cut new or duplicate keys using key cutting machines
• Open safes using drilling or manipulation techniques
• Install new or repaired tumblers into locks to change safe combinations
• Open locked doors without working keys by using lock picks
• Disassemble mechanical or electrical locking devices; repair or replace worn tumblers, springs, and other parts
• Repair and adjust safes, vault doors, and vault components
• Remove and apply interior and exterior finishes on safes and vaults
• Provide locksmith services and assist locked-out individuals in gaining access to their residences
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections of lock assemblies
• Issue and receive keys and maintain spare keys in accordance with AR 190-51
• Conduct periodic key-control inventories to ensure accountability
• Maintain supplies such as locksmith tools, hand tools, key blanks, and tags

Requirements:

• Educational background: High School Diploma or equivalent; must provide a copy
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of locksmith experience
• Knowledge of various lock types, key fabrication, lock changing, and tool use
• Understanding of safety directives regarding locksmith equipment
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral
• Ability to work independently without supervision
