Russian Linguist

Job Summary:
Russian linguists play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between parties. As a skilled Russian linguist, you will provide high-quality interpretation and translation services to support various U.S. operations and mission requirements.

About the Role:
This position involves conducting accurate and consecutive translation, transcription, and interpretation of Russian into English. You will translate various syntax and expressions, including colloquial and slang phrases, from English to Russian and vice versa. Additionally, you may work and travel in austere environments, providing advice on cultural and ethnic significance, as well as accurately scanning, researching, and analyzing foreign language documents.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide high-quality interpretation and translation services for U.S. operations and mission requirements
* Conduct accurate and consecutive translation, transcription, and interpretation of Russian into English
* Translate various syntax and expressions, including colloquial and slang phrases, from English to Russian and vice versa
* Work and travel in austere environments, providing advice on cultural and ethnic significance
* Accurately scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents

Requirements:
* Proficiency in Russian and English speaking and writing at Level 3/3 of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR)
* Native proficiency preferred
* Extensive knowledge of Russian culture with previous work in the region - Native familiarity preferred
* Experience interpreting and translating Russian into English
* Ability to understand the essentials of all speech in standard dialect and vocabulary, rarely requiring paraphrasing or explanation
* Familiarity with local culture and customs, with the ability to operate within the local populace
* Must be a U.S. citizen

Clearance Requirements:
* Top Secret SCI clearance required

Additional Requirements:
* Personnel Security Clearance (PSC) - The selected candidate must be in possession of the necessary level of Personnel Security Clearance (PSC) as specified in the job descriptions or eligible to qualify for same
* Fit for Duty - The selected candidate must undergo an extensive medical examination to be certified medically fit for duty in the work assignment location
* Vaccinations - The selected candidate must be vaccinated according to the required immunizations for the Area of Operation of the work assignment or able and willing to receive the required immunizations prior to deployment to the work assignment location
* Hearing and vision requirements - The selected candidate must have sufficient unaided hearing to perform duties safely, hear and wake up to emergency alarms unaided, and hear instructions in the absence of visual cues such as lip reading
