Job Title: HVAC Systems Specialist

An HVAC technician plays a vital role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Their responsibilities encompass evaluating system condition, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending or performing preventive maintenance to prevent breakdowns and extend system lifespan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the condition of HVAC systems and components to identify necessary repairs and recommend or perform preventive maintenance.
  • Clean, lubricate, and repack working parts of the system to ensure smooth operation.
  • Track the performance of routine and preventative maintenance to guarantee availability of HVAC systems and troubleshoot complex problems with extensive repairs.
  • Respond to service calls and preventive maintenance inspections, documenting issues through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) regarding malfunctioning/inoperable equipment.
  • Diagnose causes of problems and/or failures in HVAC systems for identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
  • Install, repair, and maintain large commercial and industrial ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning (AC), and cooling systems with complex problems and extensive repairs.
  • Perform recurring work on exhaust fans, boilers, air handlers, pumps, motors, air dryers, and other related HVAC equipment including HVAC control and monitoring systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering or scientific personnel to discuss plans, modifications, and user needs, reviewing available plans, specifications, or drawings to determine the size, shape, and location of equipment.
  • Provide advanced technical expertise in support of unique security requirements inherent in sensitive operations, including sound baffling techniques/equipment and the resolution of compromising electrical currents.

Qualifications:
  • Education/Certifications: College, vocational school, or high school diploma or equivalent and a combination of 10 years of education and experience leading to licensure as a Master HVAC, or equivalent licensure or certification at a state level, OR 12 years of experience in an equivalent military HVAC training/certification.
  • Security Clearance Requirement: Must be a US Citizen with Final Top-Secret Clearance based upon a TIER 5 Background Investigation, and favorable eligibility determination for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) IAW ICD 704.
