Responsibilities:
    The Electrician Journeyman will be responsible for:
    
  • Troubleshooting and repairing wire circuits, including electrical equipment such as distribution panels, transformers, motor control circuits, and control devices.
  • Connecting electrical distribution systems for remote locations to on-site generating equipment, including diesel generator sets and electrical distribution switchgear.
  • Providing technical support functions to UPS, generators, and HVACs.
  • Inspecting and maintaining all electrical systems, including electrical appliances and outlets.
  • Performing start/run operational inspections on generator sets and full load/facility load tests, routine operational checks of all electrical switch-gear, power cabling, and transformers.
  • Installing or repairing electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, facility UPSs, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and other transmission equipment.
  • Diagnosing trouble in electrical systems or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.

Requirements:
    To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
    
  • A high school education or equivalent.
  • Accredited professional trade school or successful completion of apprenticeship program.
  • Possess a State Journeyman Electrician card.
  • At least 5-7 years' work experience in the electrical wiring industry, with experience in planning, laying out, and installing electrical distribution systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Electrical work experience shall include electrical installation in commercial and industrial categories.

Benefits:
    This position offers company-paid housing and transportation, a completion bonus, and tuition reimbursement program. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work in an operational environment in Southwest Asia, with estimated travel within theater at 60%.

Working Conditions:
    The duty location is subject to both extreme hot and cold weather conditions. The successful candidate will be required to meet physical fitness requirements to be deemed fit for duty and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including helmet, body armor, fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, etc.

Skills and Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of electrical systems, including secondary distribution and interior systems. They will also have hands-on experience with accepted trade practices, including electrical circuits, power cables, controls, motors, bending of conduit, etc. Additionally, they will have knowledge of MIL Standards and DOD customers, excellent communication skills, and the ability to read blueprints, produce basic single line diagrams, and rough shop drawings.
