Job Description

The Cost & Estimating Engineer (Estimator II) will be responsible for preparing material takeoffs on complex projects, reviewing takeoffs for mathematical and technical accuracy, and developing procedures for estimate preparation. They will also supervise the preparation of estimates, receive engineering estimates from lead/project engineers, and prepare rationale statements to support estimates.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Preparation of Estimates: The Estimator II will prepare estimates in accordance with approved procedures, review and validate estimates using high-level norms and vendor prices, and continuously monitor estimating process performance.
  2. Supervision and Training: They will assign estimating personnel to projects, supervise their activities, and review work produced for accuracy. They will also assist in training, developing, and maintaining a staff of estimators qualified to carry out departmental and project needs.
  3. Client Interface: The Estimator II will interface directly with clients, review contractual documents and modifications, and determine scope of work and scope of change.
  4. Quality Assurance and Safety: They will be responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Business Unit, ensuring personal safety and safe working practices, and understanding and following OH&S procedures.
