This position is a COMSEC/controlled cryptographic devices and other electronic equipment repair role, physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.
About the RoleThe COMSEC Custodian/Repairman will troubleshoot and repair all COMSEC/controlled cryptographic devices and other electronic equipment. They must have comprehensive technical knowledge of functional operation of electronic units and systems to diagnose cause(s) of malfunctions and solve complex problems.
- Test faulty equipment using tools such as multimeters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Replace defective components and wiring and adjust mechanical parts using tools, soldering iron, or other equipment as necessary.
Key responsibilities include:
- Diagnostics: Test faulty equipment to identify cause(s) of malfunctions.
- Repair: Replace defective components, wiring, or adjust mechanical parts as necessary.
- Maintenance: Aligns, adjusts, and calibrates electronic equipment according to specifications.
- Record Keeping: Maintain written records of repairs, calibration, tests, and time expenditure.
This position requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequentially and selecting appropriate tools and test instruments.
QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications: High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Formal Military or Civilian Training: Completion of formal training in electronics maintenance is required.
- Pace Soldering Level I and II Training: Strongly desired.
- AN/GRM 122 Test Equipment Training: Must be school trained.
- Driver's License: Must be able to obtain a Host Country Driver's License.
- Clearance Requirements: Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
A minimum of five years of practical experience in electronics repair/maintenance, with at least two years at the sustainment maintenance level, is strongly preferred.
SkillsStrong collaboration skills are essential for effective communication and teamwork. The ability to handle confidential information and basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook applications are also required.
Working ConditionsThis role requires working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit and exposure to industrial production environment conditions.
Physical RequirementsMedium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
