Cloud Software Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about Linux, cloud infrastructure, pipelines, and automation. As a Cloud Software Engineer, you will work closely with leading cloud partners to make Ubuntu the best platform in the clouds.

Your responsibilities will include building automated image delivery, testing, and publication pipelines, designing and integrating new features into Ubuntu that support users in public clouds, collaborating with a distributed team, and writing high-quality code to create new features. You will also design and architect complex new systems and integrations with the clouds, debug issues, and produce high-quality code to fix them. Additionally, you will review code produced by other engineers and participate in design discussions.

You will work from home with occasional global travel for internal and external events. This role requires you to engage with various teams at Canonical, as well as the open-source community and commercial partners.

The ideal candidate has a strong passion for technology and working with brilliant people. You should be curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable, with excellent soft skills. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required, along with practical experience with public clouds. Knowledge of containers, devops automation, open-source projects, APIs, Linux systems administration, Python packaging, and cloud-based applications is highly desirable. Experience with Python software development on Linux is essential.
