Key Responsibilities:

  1. Designing cost-effective modifications to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  2. Performing design work for new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for facilities.
  3. Interpreting and adapting traditional methods to develop design calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that align with project objectives and standards.
  4. Conducting construction inspections, quality control, and submittal reviews beyond the expertise of construction managers.
  5. Developing cost estimates and time schedules, reviewing preliminary and final designs, plans, and specifications for technical efficiency and adequacy.
  6. Preparing necessary correspondence, technical reports, contract documents, fact sheets, and status reports, and preparing final construction drawings suitable for obtaining qualified bids from contractors.
  7. Preparing Architect and Engineer (A&E) Statements of Work (SOW), serving as a technical representative for negotiation and/or administration of contracts.
  8. Monitoring and managing projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities, utilizing professional knowledge of engineering.
  9. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures, and performing work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
  10. Awareness of living and working conditions at the assignment location, which could be remote and uncomfortable.
  11. Possibility of long hours, exposure to weather, and hazardous conditions.
  12. Awareness of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. A Mechanical Engineering degree is required; a licensed mechanical engineer is preferred.
  2. At least four years of design experience and the ability to provide mechanical design services, including determination of HVAC loads, equipment selection, duct sizing and routing, interior plumbing design, and exterior plumbing design.
  3. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2012 or later.
  4. Experience in using documents related to project development, contracting, and construction.
  5. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  6. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance, noting US Citizenship is required for a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Excellent communication, effective leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  2. Able to provide mechanical design services, including determination of HVAC loads, equipment selection, duct sizing and routing, and interior plumbing design.
  3. Working knowledge of Design Review, Project Mobilization, Quality Compliance, QA, Safety, Project Controls, and Capture Management.
  4. Proficient in AutoCAD 2009 or later, and able to use AutoCAD to create presentable and accurate facility and infrastructure plans for concept and statement of work requirements for project execution.
  5. Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Project.
