Warehouse and Shipping Team Lead

This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of shipping operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery of goods to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Operations :
    • Develop and implement shipping schedules to meet customer demands.
    • Oversee the loading, unloading, and dispatch of goods to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
    • Maintain accurate records of shipments, including invoices, packing lists, and delivery notes.
  • Team Supervision :
    • Manage and assign tasks to logistics staff, including loaders, drivers, and clerks.
    • Train staff on proper shipping protocols, safety standards, and company procedures.
    • Ensure smooth communication and coordination among team members.
  • Inventory and Documentation :
    • Verify shipping documents for accuracy and completeness before dispatch.
    • Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure correct inventory levels for shipment preparation.
    • Monitor shipments and address any issues or delays promptly.
  • Carrier Coordination :
    • Liaise with freight carriers, couriers, and third-party logistics providers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
    • Negotiate transportation rates to ensure cost-effective shipping solutions.
    • Track shipments and provide updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Safety :
    • Ensure all shipping operations comply with legal and company regulations, including customs and export/import laws.
    • Implement safety protocols for shipping and warehouse staff.
    • Monitor the handling of hazardous materials and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
  • Customer Service :
    • Address customer inquiries and concerns related to shipments and deliveries.
    • Resolve issues such as damaged or lost goods quickly and effectively.
    • Work closely with the sales or customer service team to meet customer expectations.
  • Process Optimization :
    • Analyze shipping processes to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
    • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for shipping operations.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and recommend new methods or tools for efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent (a degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is a plus).
  • Experience :
    • 3-5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or a related role.
    • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Skills :
    • Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, regulations, and documentation.
    • Proficiency in logistics and shipping software/tools.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
