Job Summary:

This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), Agency Internet Network (AIN), Intranet, and Internet data communications systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with network hardware and software, network monitoring, and maintenance. They will also be responsible for supervising other network support specialists and planning, coordinating, and implementing network security measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and support LAN, WAN, AIN, Intranet, and Internet data communications systems.
  • Supervise other network support specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
  • Maintain network hardware and software, monitor network availability, and perform necessary maintenance to ensure network availability.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff, review network control center operations, and provide support to projects involving networks.
  • Evaluate new network technologies, make recommendations for integration, and understand and plan new configurations for integration into the network.
  • Ensure adequate planning for hardware and communications facilities, develop and implement methodologies for analysis, installation, and support of voice communications systems, and maintain network infrastructure as-built cabling and fiber documentation and diagrams.
  • Assist with research and implementation of enterprise system-wide network solutions, capabilities, and enhancements to support customer business and mission goals and objectives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network infrastructure and components, evaluate and monitor network health and performance, and maintain a roadmap for capabilities, operations, and technologies.
  • Support network traffic analysis and bandwidth optimization efforts, evaluate and report on new/emerging network/communication technologies, and recommend changes and/or technology upgrades to address performance, standardization, and industry best practices.
  • Follow all customer network security processes and procedures, ensure compliance with all Government policies, and maintain IAT level III certification requirements.

Requirements:

  • BS or Equivalent (10+ Years Experience in DoD Network Engineering).
  • 5+ years related technical experience in DoD Network Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with large-scale enterprise/global network engineering in a high-paced diverse environment.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise or equivalent certification, IAT level III or advanced certification requirements per DoD 8140.03 and maintain IAT level III certification requirements throughout the contract life.
  • In-depth understanding and experience with the DOD Architecture Framework and other key DOD network architecture and strategic planning instructions.
  • Required experience with a broad spectrum of elements such as radio, fiber optics, cable infrastructure, technical control, local and wide area networks, command and control systems, space communications, data recording, switched data/voice, video computing, office automation, automation security, network security, physical security systems, perimeter security systems, network and systems management and control, video teleconferencing, MPLS, and JRSS VRFs.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, and IEEE 802.3.
  • Experience with network management systems, such as SolarWinds or CA Spectrum, and trouble ticket reporting systems, such as Remedy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Visio and Cisco network devices.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and secure communication protocols.
