Job Title: Legal Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Specialist to join our team at United Real Estate Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal counsel and support to our internal departments.
Responsibilities:
- Provides legal advice on all types of matters related to the Company's business within and outside the State of Kuwait.
- Liaisons with tenants, investors, third parties, various regulatory bodies, semi-governmental and governmental authorities, as and when requested.
- Prepares and reviews litigation briefs filed by or against the Company.
- Attends, as and when required, police and/or court proceedings to ensure the Company's interests are properly represented.
- Assists in preparation and review of defence synopsis and necessary documentation on cases launched by or against the Company and follows up with external law firms.
- Participates in negotiations with the reporting manager and third parties for concluding business transactions.
- Prepares legal notices, responses, and other types of correspondence.
- Prepares and assists in drafting petitions and memorandum of defences.
- Assists in corporate legal affairs (i.e. company registration and renewal matters, safe keeping of company records, drafting minutes of General Assemblies/ Board Resolutions, authentication of legal instruments, etc.).
- As and when required, undertakes any additional task(s) to support the Company in achieving its business plan.
- Follows-up with case laws and executive orders with external law firms.
- Follows-up on executive orders and legal judgements and the necessary actions that are required.
- Takes all necessary steps to prepare power of attorney documents and attestation of Company's contracts.
- Provides any legal assistance required by the Company during the GSM's process.
- Drafts and reviews contracts, letters, notices, and other legal documentation in coordination with the reporting manager.
- Drafts renewals/amendments of contracts.
- Provides legal advice and opinions to the User Departments on different matters in coordination with the reporting manager.
- Continuously monitors/follows-up with the legal service providers on the legal status of the cases outsourced or any other related matters as and when required.
- Takes all appropriate measures to defend the Company in case of legal disputes.
- Ensures all communication by the external legal service provider is in writing and filed appropriately in the respective case file maintained by the Department for future reference.
- Ensures business operations of the Company and its services are legally valid transactions and comply with applicable laws in force.
- Follows-up on the record of all documents handed over to the requestor in Legal Tracking Register and follows-up on receiving the documents back from the requestor.
Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Law
- Professional legal qualification or certification preferred
- Excellent English and Arabic language skills (written and spoken)
- 5 – 7 years similar experience dealing with legal matters in a company of similar size
