Job Description

This role is part of Canonical's Commercial Systems unit, which encompasses five engineering teams closely collaborating with other engineering and business teams. The Commercial Systems unit designs, develops, and operates services used by millions of machines worldwide.

The successful candidate will lead a team of software engineers implementing and operating software solutions, providing engineering and process guidance, actively seeking improvements to established processes and designs, collaborating with peers and cross-functional teams, and coding in Go or Python.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
  • Experience as a software developer in a high-level language - preferably Go or Python.
  • Experience as a hands-on engineering manager or team lead.
  • Experience building, deploying, and operating distributed systems and APIs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to collaborate remotely with a diverse set of team members and stakeholders, remain highly motivated, productive, and organized in a fully remote environment.
  • Ability to travel internationally approximately 2-4 times per year.
Compensation and Benefits

Your base salary will depend on factors such as geographical location, level of experience, knowledge, and skills. In addition to a competitive base pay, you will receive benefits that reflect our values and ideals, including:

Please note that additional benefits may apply depending on the work location.

Salary Range

The estimated salary for this role is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on factors such as geographical location, level of experience, knowledge, and skills.
