Job Summary:

This position involves operating mobile cranes with a certificate to provide lift, move, position, and support to the Roads and Grounds Section. The successful candidate will exhibit superior workmanship and focus on quality in all tasks, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safe execution.

  1. The Crane Operator develops an effective plan for material security and safekeeping during loading, delivering, and unloading operations.

  2. The individual performs daily preventative maintenance inspections on assigned vehicles and ensures they meet Kuwaiti and US Government safety requirements.

  3. A vehicle log is maintained according to applicable rules and regulations.

  4. Safety procedures are followed when transporting equipment.

Responsibilities:

  1. ">

  2. The Crane Operator inspects the condition of the work site prior to setting up the crane and manipulates the machine to hoist, position, and/or transport materials.

  3. Weather conditions and crane capacity are considered when determining load limits.

  4. Vehicles defects, malfunctions, accidents, traffic violations, or damage are reported immediately to the supervisor or manager.

  5. Crane, lifts, and other equipment are controlled using standard operating procedures to ensure safe transportation of materials and personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications/Certifications:

    1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

    2. A Home country Heavy Duty Driver's License for operating crane equipment, and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

    3. National Commission of Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) certification is mandatory.

  • Experience:

    1. A minimum of 4 years of operating mobile cranes with a Certificate.

    2. Experience with material handling equipment (forklifts) is beneficial.

    3. Basic mechanical knowledge is preferred.

    4. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret road maps, traffic signs, traffic signals, and other posted regulations regarding transportation and parking.

    5. Knowledge of proper securing methods for various types of cargo using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, and/or covers.

    6. Knowledge of proper rigging techniques for lifting objects and materials.

    7. Knowledge of US and Kuwait driving regulations and guidelines is preferred.

    8. Mastery of all safety directives and policies regarding the operation of equipment is required.

  • Skills:

    1. Ability to operate a Crane and Heavy Equipment.

    2. Ability to perform safety inspections of crane, heavy equipment, wire rope, hooks, slings, and rigging.

    3. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

    4. Professional interaction with customers, military, and other agency officials.

  • Working Conditions:

    • This role requires working outdoors with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms and high temperatures - up to 130F degrees in the summer months.

    • Potential exposure to chemical or biological agents could exist, necessitating the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
