Project Estimator and Cost Management Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Project Estimator and Cost Management Specialist to join our team. This key role is responsible for preparing and reviewing material takeoffs, developing estimation procedures, and supervising the estimation process for complex civil, road, or similar projects.

The successful candidate will be accountable for validating estimates through norm comparisons and cost analysis, monitoring estimating KPIs, and recommending process improvements. Additionally, they will train and supervise estimators, assign projects, and review work for accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare Material Takeoffs: Develop and review technical accuracy of drawings and plans.
  2. Develop Estimation Procedures: Supervise procedures for project estimates, from initial phases to detailed accuracy.
  3. Incorporate Engineering Estimates: Integrate engineering estimates into overall project budgets and prepare rationale statements highlighting risks.
  4. Validate Estimates: Conduct norm comparisons and cost analysis to validate estimates.
  5. Monitor Estimating KPIs: Track and analyze estimating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to recommend process improvements.
  6. Train and Supervise Estimators: Train and supervise estimators, assign projects, and review work for accuracy.
  7. Review Contractual Documents: Review contractual documents to determine scope of work and changes.
  8. Assist in Project Scheduling: Assist in project scheduling related to estimates.
  9. Develop Departmental Output Quality: Develop forms and procedures to enhance departmental output quality.
  10. Interface with Clients: Interface directly with clients.
  11. Lead a Team: Lead a team of 1-4 estimators, ensuring qualified staffing and performance.
  12. Participate in Quality Improvement Team: Participate in the company's Quality Improvement Team.
  13. Maintain Current Estimating Standards: Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance and safety protocols by evaluating historical data and procedures.
