Linux Systems Specialist

As a Linux Systems Specialist, you will contribute to creating and maintaining the Ubuntu Server platform, which enables cutting-edge technology globally. The ideal candidate will be passionate about open source software and have experience with Linux systems, including distribution development, debugging issues, test environment creation, and administration and optimization of complex workloads.

You will collaborate with our experienced team, working from home with occasional global travel for internal and external events. Your role will involve owning the maintenance of Ubuntu Server packages, including traditional server workloads, virtualisation and containers, package management and dependencies, and language runtimes and toolchains. You will also collaborate with other teams in the Ubuntu and Debian communities, as well as upstream projects and commercially supported customers.

To succeed in this role, you will need to be flexible, articulate, and accountable. A Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar field is required. Experience with Python, Go, or Rust, packaging or distributing software, and public clouds like AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and IBM Cloud is highly desirable. Involvement in open source projects is a plus.
