Linux Kernel Engineering Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux kernel engineer to lead our team in the development and maintenance of the Ubuntu Linux kernel. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a leading open-source project and contribute to the advancement of Linux technology.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in operating system kernels and distributions, with expertise in C programming, Python, and Bash scripting. They will also have experience working with software packaging formats, such as Debian and Snap, and be familiar with the git version control system. Additionally, they should have a strong understanding of device drivers, BSPs, and low-level system engineering.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to thrive in a remote work environment. They will also be able to travel internationally at least twice a year for company events.

This role entails setting the technical direction and leading the delivery of a team of junior and mid-career engineers for a key aspect of Ubuntu Linux. The candidate will work closely with management within and outside the team to track and coordinate initiatives to delivery, and collaborate daily with other senior technical leadership on the Kernel Team on how best to ensure Ubuntu stays at the pinnacle of Linux distributions.
