As a High School Social Studies Educator, you will empower students to think critically about historical and contemporary issues, develop a nuanced understanding of global systems, and excel in advanced academic environments, including the challenges of the AP program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Engaging Lesson Plans: Develop standards-aligned curriculum that fosters critical thinking, analysis, and communication skills, encompassing history, government, economics, and global issues.
  • Develop Advanced Understanding Curriculum: Create challenging course material that promotes exploration of complex economic, political, and social systems, encouraging responsible citizenship.
  • Evaluate Student Performance: Assess student learning through various methods, including assignments, presentations, debates, projects, and assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Cultivate a Collaborative Classroom Environment: Establish a classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation, inquiry, and diverse perspectives, promoting intellectual stimulation and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues and Parents: Work with colleagues and parents to support student growth and address individual learning needs, particularly within the demands of advanced coursework.
  • Guide Students in Research and Presentation Skills: Help students develop sophisticated research, analysis, and presentation skills essential for higher education and future leadership roles.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: Hold a Bachelor's degree in Education with a major in Social Studies, History, Political Science, Economics, or a related field, and possess proven experience as a high school social studies teacher or similar role.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills, ensuring effective collaboration with colleagues and parents.
  • Experience with Advanced Placement Coursework (AP): Preference given to candidates with experience teaching advanced placement coursework.
