The Emergency Department (ED) Registrar works under the direct supervision of the Emergency Medicine Specialist to provide high-quality emergency care to patients. The role involves patient assessment, initial management of acute conditions, stabilization of critically ill patients, and coordination of care within the emergency team. The registrar is expected to practice in accordance with hospital protocols and report to the emergency medicine specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Assessment & Management:
    • Conduct thorough patient evaluations and initiate timely management.
    • Recognize and manage emergency conditions, including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, and neurological emergencies.
    • Request appropriate investigations and interpret results effectively.
  2. Resuscitation & Critical Care:
    • Assist in resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill patients under the supervision of a specialist.
    • Perform emergency procedures such as airway management, IV access, and wound care under the supervision of a specialist.
    • Adhere to ACLS, ATLS, and resuscitation guidelines.
  3. Coordination & Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with emergency specialists, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
    • Work collaboratively with nursing staff to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
    • Provide patient education and clear discharge instructions.
  4. Documentation & Compliance:
    • Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, MOH Kuwait regulations, and quality standards.
  5. Professional Development & Education:
    • Participate in clinical training, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education.
    • Stay updated with the latest advancements in emergency medicine.
    • Assist in supervising junior doctors and medical students when required.
    • Assist in department projects and policy and guidelines development.

Education & Certifications:

  • Master's degree in Emergency Medicine
  • BLS, ACLS, ATLS

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency medicine.

Language Skills: Must be fluent in both English and Arabic.

Skills: Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, communication, and ability to work under pressure.
