Overview

This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.

Under the supervision of Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Recovery Vehicle Operator), Lead and/or Commercial Leased Vehicle Branch (CLVB) Supervisor, operates both conventional and flatbed tow vehicles, including driving, towing, and backing trailers, using safety skills. Performs preventive equipment maintenance. Keeps and obtains all required records and documentation. Must be able to work alone, follow directions, and communicate appropriately with customers and fellow workers. Maintains self and equipment by keeping clean, neat, and orderly. Responds to all requests in a timely manner. Performs minor roadside repairs, flat tires, dead batteries, and vehicle malfunctions. Performs recovery of Commercial Lease Vehicle Branch CLVB and TMP assets as directed throughout the AOR. Performs evacuation of equipment to commercial and Government repair facilities, using commercial and military recovery vehicles. Performs on-site repair or recovery IAW technical manuals, commercial manuals, and safety and local policies. May perform duties as a mechanic and/or other duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive equipment maintenance.
  • Responds to all requests in a timely manner.
  • Performs minor roadside repairs, flat tires, dead batteries, and vehicle malfunctions.
  • Performs recovery of Commercial Lease Vehicle Branch CLVB and TMP assets as directed throughout the AOR.
  • Performs evacuation of equipment to commercial and Government repair facilities, using commercial and military recovery vehicles.
  • Performs on-site repair or recovery IAW technical manuals, commercial manuals, and safety and local policies.
  • May perform duties as a mechanic and/or other duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must provide a copy of the diploma.
    • On-Post Heavy License and Heavy Driving License required or able to obtain. CDL or equivalent.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
    • A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Kuwait Heavy Duty Driver's License.
    • Available 24 hours a day.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of four (4) years experience as a Recovery Operator or Tow Truck Driver and one (1) year Vehicle Mechanic experience.
    • Military (Army) recovery operations training highly desired.
  • Skills
    • Read, write, and speak English at proficiency level 3.
  • Working Conditions
    • Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
    • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
    • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
