Job Description Overview: The College Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational and academic aspects of their college, with a joint focus on overall student experience and driving local sales and marketing activities. Duties of the role include, but are not limited to, those listed below.

Duties

  1. Academic Management

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the delivery of the academic programme and the recruitment, leadership, and professional development of academic team members.
  • Providing academic leadership to the teaching team in terms of stated educational aims / curriculum statement.
  • Working with the Group Academic Director to successfully manage and communicate new academic products, courses and projects.
  • Recruiting and inducting all permanent and temporary teachers in line with company standards.
  • Maintaining and achieving accreditation via any relevant bodies.
  • Making provision for academic advice and support to help students learn independently.
  • Implementing and maintaining suitable measures of academic progress and achievement.
  • Creating and maintaining effective channels of communication across and between BSC locations.
  • Initially, the College Manager will be required to teach up to 30 hours per week.
  • Be able to support the academic team and cover classes when required.

Student Experience

  • Being a visible presence in the college, driving student engagement and fostering an environment that supports learning.
  • Following up on any feedback within the agreed SLA’s.
  • Dealing with all escalated student welfare queries and problems quickly and discreetly.
  • Ensuring a robust social and activity programme is in place.
  • Organising the emergency phone rota between appropriate team members.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of the college’s financial administration.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date and accurate knowledge of college rules and policies.
  • Liaising with the central accommodation team to ensure high standards of student accommodation.
  • Managing all cash transactions in compliance with BSC group standards.
  • Attending regular reviews with the Director of Operations and Director of Finance.
  • Responsibility for actively monitoring student numbers and activity at the college.
  • Liaising with the Finance Team regarding students’ accounts.
  • Ordering stock and supplies as necessary.
  • Responsibility for overall management of course bookings and student records.

Marketing & External Communications

  • Dealing with or redirecting all enquiries received.
  • Ensuring the provision of a high level of support to the marketing function.
  • Implementing local marketing activity to maximise direct non-agent bookings.
  • Ensuring the Welcome Hub areas are well presented.

Facilities & Resources Management

  • Ensuring good maintenance of the premises and a safe learning environment.
  • Ensuring that student resources are appropriate and up to date.
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.

Student Accommodation & Welfare Services

  • Act as the primary named person for dealing with students’ personal problems.
  • Local management of the college’s student accommodation activity.
  • Responsible for overall management of the college team to monitor individual student welfare.

Team Management

  • Responsibility for effective recruitment and induction procedures.
  • Fostering a positive working environment for all team members.
  • Ensuring that all team members have an annual performance review.
  • Liaising with other departments when dealing with grievances and disciplinary procedures.
  • Holding regular Team Meetings.

Safeguarding

  • To act as the Deputy to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Receiving information about events that may involve young people.
  • Recording statements from any team member who feels that inappropriate behaviour has occurred.
  • Maintaining appropriate records of any welfare issues.

Required Experience & Skills

  • DELTA qualified (or equivalent).
  • C2 Level of English.
  • Previous experience managing a team of 3+ people in a stand-alone business unit in the education sector.
  • Experience in team recruitment and performance management.
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the business.
  • An understanding of duty of care and health & safety responsibilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: KD800.000 - KD900.000 per month
