Construction Director

The Job Purpose

The Construction Director's role is to plan, direct and coordinate activities pertaining to the Design and Construction, renovation of stores in accordance with company policies, condominium documents and government regulations and liaise with internal and external stakeholders like consultants & government authorities.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all new stores and stores renovations are done on the right time and within the budgets set.
• Oversee and ensure that all stores and renovations are delivered in compliance with the specifications set by the franchisors in co-ordinance with the design team.
• Monitor and oversees the refurbishing of existing stores and construction of new stores.
• Review Preliminary Sites Surveys with detailed project construction and design requirements and constraints.
• Ensure projects are complete in a timely manner and with the highest quality by monitoring and reporting on performance of all external contractors and consultants.
• Ensure project is executed as per design parameters by working closely with design team.
• Oversee project managers preparing detailed bill of quantities (B.O.Q) and invite tenders.
• Ensure implementation of design, equipment layouts and brand standards.
• Driving all necessary approvals for works, including planning, building Control, landlords, etc.
• Review bi-monthly progress reports and address any pending cases and critical issues.
• Oversees signage, furniture, and all other owner provided packages by liaising with approved Sub-contractors.
• Monitor and oversee cost estimates, budgets, and work timetables
• Review and evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans.
• Monitor the Planning, organizing, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
• Monitor and evaluate specifications for plan procedures, start and completion dates, and staffing requirements for each phase of the construction projects.
• Ensures that specifications and company policies are cascaded down to subordinates and/or contractors and enforces safety regulations.
• Ensures that building codes are met by overseeing the project managers and maintenance team and to ensure project managers has performed a detailed inspection of property to ensure that work conforms to specifications, budget and time schedule.
• Drive the process for architectural and engineering firms to ensure design translation is aligned consistent with brand standards and store vision.
• Review and disseminate regular reporting on progress on all projects managed by the construction team.
• Oversees project managers across different clusters.
• Review and approves succession planning for relevant key positions to comply with succession planning process
• Accountable for ensuring the first and second line of successors are prepared for identified critical and key roles/positions to ensure timely readiness of employees to assume those roles

Qualification: -

• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• MBA is an asset.

Experience: -

• 15+ years of solid experience in a multi-unit retail environment. Preferred F&B and hospitality experience
