We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a team that works closely with cloud giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google to optimize Ubuntu for their infrastructure. The team builds, tests, and publishes base Ubuntu images used by millions, ensuring performance and security in cloud environments. Our goal is to deliver the best public cloud VM experience and specialized images for various purposes, celebrating differentiation while maintaining a uniform user experience.

As an engineering manager, you will bring both technical and management skills to lead your team and represent it in partner engagements. You will ensure stability and functionality for cloud users, automate image delivery, and support workloads from web servers to AI-enabled servers, VMs, and containers.

Your primary responsibility is to support your team—helping them grow, do valuable work, and enjoy their time at Canonical. You will influence culture, facilitate technical delivery, and contribute to strategy and execution. Fluency in Python and Golang, along with architecture and code review skills, are essential. You will uphold engineering best practices, documentation, quality, and performance, while managing your team effectively.

10. Working remotely with up to 15% travel for events

Ideal candidates will:

• Have experience with agile methodologies
• Hold a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar
• Have software development experience in Python or Golang
• Possess effective communication skills
• Have practical experience with cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
