Responsibilities:
- Teaching up to 30 students with a variety of strengths and weaknesses in a self-contained classroom.
- Understand how each child in the class learns best and then plan and develop creative teaching and learning activities using the modified CBSE curriculum and the supporting resources to effectively teach each child.
- Plan and submit the following documents in a timely manner:
- Weekly lesson plans to be posted on MS Teams every Wednesday.
- Long term plans to be submitted at the end of March each year to the Academic Coordinator/ Principal/ Vice-Principal.
- Based on the quarterly assessment calendar, create relevant assessments and implement them in a timely manner.
- Maintain the following records for each student in the class:
- Student profile and information from the previous year.
- Progress and report card copies.
- Prepare and conduct assessments aligned with the curriculum.
- Use of Technology:
- Take daily attendance on the attendance module.
- Post all student behavior problems on the behavior module. This is important to track all issues concerning students with behavior problems.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service professional development activities provided by the school.
- Ensure effective classroom management: Enlist the help of the social worker to understand how to effectively manage the classroom so that learning can happen. Corporal punishment or abuse of any kind is against the school policy.
- Attend all meetings:
- Monthly staff meetings after school.
- Grade team meetings which are organized to help the teacher effectively prepare lesson plans.
- Quarterly PTM meetings.
- Any other meeting.
- Maintain a high standard of classroom and corridor displays which reflects the work of the students.
- Afterschool intervention program: Plan and conduct remedial support to the weak students through the mandatory afterschool intervention program. This is the only way to ensure that the 'Student Goals' for the class are achieved.
- Plan and implement field trips which are linked to the curriculum. Plans should reach the Principal's secretary 2 weeks prior to the date.
- Participate in at least one committee, all parent engagement activities, all weekly school assemblies, and all school events.
- Support other members of the faculty during short leaves of absence:
- All staff are expected to read and comply with the morning memos sent by the principal every morning.
- Use the support of "TRACK MY SCHOOL" to connect with each child's parents. Written reminders, positive successes of students, and requests for a meeting can all be written in the student communication books.
- Communicate effectively with the social worker to monitor the progress of students identified as 'Students at risk' or 'Students of academic concern'.
Extra-Curricular Activities:
- Participate in one mandatory afterschool extracurricular activity which develops the after school program and helps to develop school teams that participate competitively at various levels representing the school. It is mandatory to attend scheduled meetings for extra-curricular activities.
Department Goals:
- Foster a positive relationship and attitude between all staff, management, school owners, and the community.
- Implement the daily lesson plans effectively.
- Meet the curriculum and developmental goals outlined for the year.
Individual Goals:
- Be ambassadors in promoting the school.
- Read, understand, and comply with the policy and procedures of ICS.
- Implement the weekly plans, unit plans, and long-range plans effectively in the classroom.
- Maintain a high standard of classroom discipline, student manners, and behavior both inside and outside the classroom.
- Comply with all work expectations as laid out in the staff handbook.
