Overview

This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP. Under the supervision of the Fire Sprinkler Technician Lead, the technician performs routine and emergency maintenance on fire sprinkler systems and equipment, components, and subsystems in the area of operations. Responsibilities include inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of water-based fire sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, jockey pumps, and related equipment. The role involves working in secure, critical, and sensitive areas under the control of the U.S. Army, ensuring compliance with UFC 3-601-02 and NFPA 25 standards.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change to meet program or company needs.

  1. Perform maintenance and repairs on water-based sprinkler and suppression systems and other fire protection components.
  2. Conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems according to UFC 3-601-02 and NFPA 25 guidelines.
  3. Capable of performing main drain tests, 5-year internals, Pitot gauge testing, hydrostatic testing, backflow prevention, and other required maintenance tasks per standards.
  4. Utilize various hand tools, shop tools, and equipment for repairs and maintenance.
  5. Troubleshoot, repair, or replace defective components of sprinkler systems, fire pumps, standpipes, water tanks, pump controllers, and flow/tamper devices.
  6. Manage parts, tools, equipment, and materials required for work.
  7. May be required to perform routine and emergency services outside normal hours.
  8. Work in secure and sensitive areas of military installations following security procedures.
  9. Operate, maintain, and ensure safety of assigned vehicles.
  10. Complete required documentation related to work performed.
  11. Follow safety and environmental standards and practices.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Education/Certifications:

  • Three years of related experience may substitute for education if a degree is required.
  • Minimum two years documented experience as a Fire Suppression/Sprinkler System Technician.
  • Knowledge of fire suppression/sprinkler systems and ability to perform hydraulic calculations preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain U.S. Government and host nation driver's licenses required.

Experience:

  • At least two years of maintenance, repair, installation, inspection, and testing of UL/FM listed fire suppression/sprinkler systems.
  • Proficiency in English to understand instructions and complete reports.

Skills:

  • Testing, inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire systems; installation of piping and valves.
  • Use of threading machines and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 13, 20, 22, and 25 standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions exceeding 120°F.
  • Indoor and outdoor environments with harsh conditions, including hot, dry, desert environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently or constantly.
  • May involve heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, and prolonged standing or sitting.
  • Use of PPE as required.
  • Compliance with all safety and fire regulations.
