Communications-Electronics Technician Lead

This position is physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.

Overview

Under supervision of the Communications-Electronics Technician Supervisor, the Communications-Electronics Technician Lead is responsible for a team of technicians that handle all the Field Level Maintenance services and repairs of Vehicle Radio Installation Kits. Provide maintenance and repair of tactical communication systems installed in track and wheel vehicles. Responsible for inventorying and reordering parts for bench stock re-supply.

Responsibilities
  • Guides and manages a team of COMMEL Techs.
  • Perform full range of vehicle radios systems at the Field Level of maintenance.
  • Complete work assignment within required man hours standards and requirements.
  • Uses correct technical manuals, bulletins, and written directives in the performance of duty.
  • Troubleshoots equipment, diagnoses problems, and performs corrective actions.
  • Orders required repair parts using appropriate parts manuals and/or automated systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to obtain host nation driver license.
    • Must be Secret Clearance eligible and/or ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum three years' work experience in communication maintenance.
    • One year leadership experience preferred.
  • Skills:
    • A working knowledge of test equipment.
    • Collaborative work style fostering cooperation and teamwork.
    • Ability to work effectively with employees and management of all levels to include multi-national staff, superiors, and ranking military officers.
    • Ability to handle confidential company and employee information with complete discretion.
    • Intermediate ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written.
    • Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook applications.
    • High-level organization and planning skills so workflow is managed efficiently and accurately.
    • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets reports and documents.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Guides and leads a team of COMMEL Technicians.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations.
