JOB PURPOSE:

Support Immediate Supervisor and oversee Market & Operational Risk. Overseeing Management trainee/Senior Officer Risk. Also, help coordinate with Group Risk Management in managing Kuwait Branch Risk.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Verify all deal tickets originating from the Dealer for mathematical accuracy and completeness.
  2. Monitor and record interbank lending limits daily, ensuring they are updated and valid.
  3. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly returns as per HO & Central Bank of Kuwait requirements.
  4. Prepare management reports for liquidity forecasting and projecting LCR.
  5. Ensure all ratios are within CBK & HO requirements and escalate exceptions as per governance requirements.
  6. Monitor FX position intra-day and overnight, verify them with system-generated reports, and reconcile positions daily.
  7. Monitor KIBOR rates and establish FX counter rates and staff rates.
  8. Report all exceptional deals to Manager-Risk for necessary actions.
  9. Oversee reports on Market and Liquidity Risk sent to Group Risk Management.
  10. Assist Risk Lead in preparation for MIS and pack for Branch Risk and Compliance Committee.

Act as a back-up for activities performed by the Immediate Supervisor in their absence, performing the following:

  1. Lead and present to Branch Risk and Compliance Committee based on the governance charter.
  2. Provide inputs and present at the Regional Risk and Compliance Committee on Risk management areas.
  3. Coordinate with Head Office on important matters in the absence of Risk Lead.
  4. Represent risk management in various Branch level governance committees (ALCO, Exco, B-RCC) based on delegation.
  5. Sign off on stress testing and submission to Central Bank of Kuwait.
  6. Sign off on IFRS 9 and submission to Central Bank of Kuwait.

Supervise the Management Trainee/Senior Officer Risk Management:

  1. Review work performed by Management Trainee/Senior Officer Risk regarding daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
  2. Perform the Checker role for daily deposits and other treasury reports prepared by subordinates.
  3. Train subordinates to bring them up to speed with additional tasks.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate with internal/external audits, Central Bank audits, Internal Control reviews, specific to Risk Management.
  2. Participate in projects/policy tools designed to meet the increasing demands of Risk Management.
  3. Comply with all directives issued by regulators regarding Capital Adequacy and other issues.
  4. Be conversant with AML & CFT and Sanctions requirements and ensure strict compliance.
  5. Assist Immediate Supervisor-Risk in managing various risks with attention to the Risk and Reward Matrix adopted by the bank.
  6. Compliance with Bank's Policy and Procedures and directives from Central Bank of Kuwait and UAE.
  7. Maintain professional and high standards of work ethics.
  8. Coordinate and direct every aspect of Risk issues.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  1. University degree with 3-5 years' experience in a Risk oversight or Compliance role.
  2. Good understanding of credit portfolio components.
  3. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in the industry.
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; excellent team player.
  5. Good quantitative skills and detail-oriented.
  6. Highly motivated and able to work under pressure.
  7. Good interpersonal skills and pleasant personality to deal effectively with stakeholders.
  8. Strong English language skills and awareness of bank's policies, CBK regulations, and compliance manuals.
