Lab Chemist

Role Description

The Lab Chemist is responsible for conducting all chemical and physical tests needed for qualifying DS and PT products. This role involves evaluating laboratory data, suggesting treatment for unsatisfactory results, and maintaining detailed records of testing procedures with an organized database for results. Additionally, this position may be assigned specialized tasks as delegated by the Lab Manager.

Job Responsibilities

• Plan, perform testing, and problem solve in a lab and field environment.
• Guide Laboratory Technicians to maintain proper training among lab personnel, including supervisory duties.
• Attain and maintain a complete understanding of all laboratory analysis procedures.
• Conduct all chemical and physical tests needed for qualifying DS and MIPT products.
• Supervise quality control applied procedures to ensure accurate results.
• Direct, coordinate, or advise Technicians in test procedures for analyzing components or physical properties of materials.
• Implement lab safety procedures and report any hazardous situations to the Lab Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry from an accredited institution is required; a master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience, preferably in the petrochemical field.
• Proficiency with MS Office and ERP software applications.
• Proficiency in using and maintaining laboratory equipment.
• Solid laboratory skills, including sample preparation and testing procedures.
• Experience in Quality Control processes to ensure compliance with standards.
• Ability to perform calibration of laboratory instruments accurately.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
